DOT Issues Oral Fluid Specimen Collection Procedures Guidelines

By NDASA

The Oral Fluid Specimen Collection Procedures, together with the 49 CFR Part 40, and the U.S. Department of Transportation Operating Administration rules, provide collectors with the information needed in the performance of their collection duties

Publication of the guidelines brings us one important step closer to oral fluid collections. Keep in mind, however, that there must NOT be any DOT-regulated oral fluid collections conducted until after the Department of Health and Human Services certifies a primary laboratory and a split specimen laboratory.
