Conflicts arising from confrontational or obstructive donors may sometimes eventually lead to a refusal to test but nearly always will result in a disputed outcome and an unhappy client. This course provides a clear process for drawing the line between unpleasant behavior and that which can result in a clear determination of a refusal to test. Attendees will review the Purpose of Reasonable Suspicion/Cause Testing Regulations Application, examine signs and symptoms of drug and/or alcohol impairment, and learn how to conduct an evaluation. Live demonstrations will show techniques of evaluating, examples of avoidance, and the methods by which observations are transitioned from witnessed to articulated in the documentation. Barriers to reasonable suspicion/cause testing and how to mitigate obstacles, including support from management, legal issues, and team dynamics, will also be discussed. The workshop will conclude with a 20-question test, a 90% is required to pass. Successful completion of this course earns the trainee a professional certification.
