Bill Current

Widely considered one of the leading experts on drug testing and the drug testing industry, Bill Current has been in the industry since 1989. He is the founder and owner of Bill the Current Consulting Group (formerly known as WFC & Associates), a leader in compliance and business development consulting in the drug testing industry. While CCG does not sell drug testing, the company provides services that support both providers and employers in their efforts to secure the safety and wellbeing of their workplaces with various employee screening practices, including drug testing. He started Current Compliance in 2001, an online subscription database service on all state laws related to workplace drug testing, including marijuana and workers’ compensation laws. Bill is the former Executive Director of the American Council for Drug Education, Director of the Institute for a Drug-Free Workplace, Staff Director at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of Consulting Services for Employee Information Services, and Consultant to the U.S. Department of Labor. He consults on compliance and state law matters, marketing, business development, bringing new products and services to the workplace market, and employee screening trends. His clients include many of the leading providers of drug and alcohol testing services. Additionally, each year he makes nearly 50 in-person and virtual presentations, writes and has published dozens of articles, white papers, and reports, and oversees two major drug testing surveys, including the Drug Testing Industry Survey, which is released exclusively at NDASA's Conference and Trade Show each year. He is the author of “Why Drug Testing: Updated and Expanded for 2020,” as well as nine other books on substance abuse-related issues.

Bill's Statement of Purpose

I feel that the drug testing industry is at a crucial fork in the road given the ongoing campaign to legalize marijuana and the parallel campaign to limit if not prohibit workplace drug testing programs. NDASA is poised to be the most influential voice on all things drug testing and as such has the greatest opportunity to ensure that accurate and truthful information about employers' rights to address workplace substance abuse continues to exist and that the industry itself is capable of defending and promoting those rights. I want to be a part of that effort from within the organization that I believe has the best chance of having a significant impact on the future of drug testing.
